Paula Trimble-Familetti
(Author, Feminist Theologian)
Feminism & Religion
Dr. Paula Trimble-Familetti, is a self described religion nerd and one woman ecumenical movement, Dr. Trimble-Familetti has a B.A. in religion from a Disciple of Christ College, an M.A. in religion form a Baptist University, and a Doctor of Ministry in International Feminist Theology from a Presbyterian Seminary.
Her fascination with religion began at an early age and her passion for feminism began in 1970. She is the author of the gold medal winning book Prostitutes, Virgins and Mothers: Questioning Teachings About Biblical Women.
“As a child in Sunday School I questioned what I was being taught” she says. “I can remember my Sunday School teacher telling my mother, ‘She always asks the hard questions.’” “My biggest question was, where are all the women and why are the women I am learning about prostitutes, virgins or mothers? Didn’t they do anything else?”
The book is born out of those questions and a realization that biblical women do not tell their own stories. Their stories are narrated about them from the perspective of the female writer. Until quite recently, the interpretations of those stories have been from a male perspective.
Prostitutes, Virgins and Mothers imagines the voices of biblical women to tell their own stories and interprets those stories from a woman’s perspective.

"Chisholm '72: Unbought & Unbossed"
A film by Shola Lynch
CHISHOLM 72 Unbought & Unbossed - is the first historical documentary on Brooklyn Congresswoman Shirley Chisholm and her campaign to become the Democratic Party?s presidential nominee in 1972. Following Chisholm from the announcement of her candidacy in January to the Democratic National Convention in Miami, Florida in July, the story is like her- fabulous, fierce, and fundamentally.
Shirley Chisholm, a Democrat from New York, was the first black woman elected to the United States Congress (in 1969), and then--long before the likes of Revs. Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton--the first African American of either gender to seek a major party's presidential nomination, an effort recounted in Unbought & Unbossed. Chisholm, who died in January 2005, undoubtedly knew that her chances of winning her party's 1972 nomination, let alone the general election, were nil; she ran, she said, to "shake up the system."
